Harro!

Tomorrow's Chinese New Year already oh god someone needs to ask the time to chill the freak down. Can you tell how excited we are??!!!

*put so many exclamation marks means very excited please

Anyway, I've spent so much time last year baking CNY cookies I was a bit bummed when I couldn't make time to make some this year.

But then...

As I was having dimsum with in Ipoh with Bunny, Bryan and Ah Cheong last weekend I suddenly thought of a genius idea. All thanks to..

THIS GOOEY LAU SA PAOOO. Or Salted Egg Yolk Custard bun lol.

I freaking love it! I mean this is a must-have whenever we visit any dimsum restaurants. So rich and decadent and flavorful and when the filling oozes out of the bun and enters your mouth...

That's when I thought since you can have salted egg yolk in a form of a bun, you sure can have it in other structure right? (structure lol. Told you I'm a genius)

Ok side track a bit. Someone asked why is the bun in white instead of the conventional yellow shade. Stupid Bryan said:

"The trend haven't come to Ipoh yet".

LOL He kept making Ipoh sound like it's some ulu place when it's actually damn cool and hip please. Ipoh got LTE coverage leh!

OK so back to my genius idea. I went home and quickly Googled if I could find any savoury cookie recipe I can cilok and adapt from. It should be easy what, if chocolate chip cookie just replace chocolate chip with salted egg yolk la wtf.

Then I found this:


FML. Turns out other people have done it already.

Genius, pack your bag and go home please.

But genius-wannabe went ahead and did it anyway. Followed the recipe from messywitchen 

But seriously, Messywitchen has crazy recipes, go try em out! (Laksa cookies, now that's true genius. What is this kid thinking, thought she had sudden epiphany from eating a custard bun?!)



Asked Mummy to help me cut the salted eggs for me. Stressed to her samore must cut nicely I wanna take picture. Then she just chopped them and ya, the above happened. 

EXPECTATION:

REALITY:
FML. 

Super love the color combination. I think I snooped half an egg yolk before I put them in lol.

The results:
Light and savory, tastes a bit like char siu bao but without the meat.

Maybe I should stop trying so hard. I can never properly describe the food I eat lolol. 


Ya that's it. 
People have been asking why isn't this blog updated. I don't know man, still waiting for my partner's food update.
